Dry and boring stuff about my family, books I am reading, and thoughts on issues from an Anabaptist/Mennonite Perspective.

Ben Witherington: On Choosing a Translation

April 28th, 2008

I recently read Witherington’s book The Living Word of God.  Today his blog linked to a lecture of his titled “Choosing a Translation.”  This corresponds to a chapter of his book and I would highly recommend it.

Watch the video lecture here.  Expect some excellent, practical, yet thoroughly professional information on a subject that often elicits rather different sorts of discussion.

Free Audiobook of the month at Christianaudio.com

April 1st, 2008

It’s G.K. Chesterton’s The Man who was Thursday. I listened to Librivox’s version of this one a while ago. Christianaudio.com says:

All that G. K. Chesterton’s critics and comrades labeled him – devotional, impious, confounding, intelligent, humorous, bombastic – he wove into The Man Who Was Thursday. This page-turner sends characters bobbing around a delightfully confusing plot of mythic proportions. There are so many twists and turns that soon you’ll be tangled in a story that you cannot put down…even if you’re not entirely sure why!

What else would you expect from a book with the subtitle “the Nightmare”? Get it free here.
