Email exchange with a Craigslist scammer
April 17th, 2009I have an item for sale on Craigslist, and received a very common reply which always indicates a scam.
Scammer: I’m interested your add and will like to know if it’s still up for sale. Please write back to me as soon as possible. Thanks…
Me: Yes it is.
Scammer: Hello, Glad to read from you. I’m really interested in your Item but i’m so sorry as i won’t be able to come for a look as i’m the busy type. Well, i’ll keep in touch with my financier to mail a check for the amount you’re requesting and will have a shipping company to come for the pick up as soon as you confirm to me that you receive the check and it clears your bank. If this arrangement is acceptable, pls get back to me with your name as it will appear on the check and your contact address that the check will be mail to along with your cell #. Please write back as soon as possible so we can proceed. Thanks…AND GOD BLESS YOU………………..
Me: Oh. I am very sorry, this is most unfortunate. Due to circumstances, I am not able to do business with anyone whose name begins with the letter “D.” I do apologize for this and hopefully this problem will be rectified in the future. God bless you also.
Many regrets,
Mike
